Job Responsibilities
– Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
– Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
– Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
– Educate patients and their families on speech and language disorders and treatment strategies.
– Utilize evidence-based practices to assess and treat patients.
– Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting progress and treatments.
– Conduct screenings to identify speech or language disorders in patients.
– Provide therapy in individual or group settings as appropriate.
– Stay current with advancements in speech-language pathology through continued education and training.
– Advocate for patient needs and support access to resources.
– Supervise and mentor speech-language pathology assistants and students, as needed.
– Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment goals.
– Implement augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems when necessary.
– Engage in community outreach programs to raise awareness of speech-language pathology services.
Requirements
– Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
– Valid state licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist
– Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred
– Strong knowledge of speech and language disorders and treatment methodologies
– Experience in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans
– Proficient in conducting assessments and evaluations
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
– Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
– Familiarity with relevant technology and software for therapy and documentation
– Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks effectively
– Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with industry best practices
